Nigerian Boxers Compete in Ghana Friendly Ahead of Commonwealth Games

Team Nigeria has arrived in Accra, Ghana, ahead of an international friendly boxing tournament against Ghana's Black Bombers. The tournament is scheduled to take place on Thursday, May 7, at the Accra Sports Stadium.

This friendly match serves as part of Nigeria's preparation for the 2026 Commonwealth Games, which will be held from July 23 to August 2 in Glasgow, Scotland. The Nigerian delegation includes a mix of male and female boxers, along with a full complement of technical and administrative officials.

The male boxers participating are Ogunremi Michael (55kg), Sodiq Oduniyi (60kg), Abdulrahmon Abdulwahaab (65kg), Folli Hassan (70kg), and Daniel Joshua (80kg). The female boxers include Aishat Gbadamosi (57kg), Kadijat Ajisola (54kg), and Orakw Bless (75kg).

The friendly tournament is expected to provide valuable competitive exposure for the Nigerian boxers as they intensify their preparations for the multi-sport event in Scotland.
