Nigerian Breweries posts N114.1bn profit on revenue growth, cost cuts

The beverage maker reported a 33% jump in nine-month profit to N114.1bn, driven by modest revenue gains and sharply lower finance expenses.
Nigerian Breweries Plc delivered a N114.1 billion profit after tax in the nine months to September 30, 2026. This reflected a 33 percent jump from the corresponding 2025 period.
The company's revenue grew by 5 percent, reaching N1.10 trillion compared with N1.05 trillion the prior year. Operational efficiency and balance sheet improvements drove profit expansion that outpaced top-line growth.
Gross profit advanced 15 percent to N477.9 billion, with operating profit gaining 10 percent to N179.2 billion. The profit before tax figure rose 33 percent, reaching N171.7 billion.
Market-share expansion across its range of offerings contributed to stronger results, the company said, even as consumers grappled with limited spending power in the current economy. Finance costs represented a substantial tailwind for earnings.
Net interest and other finance expenses decreased by 78 percent over the nine-month stretch, boosting profitability materially despite revenue gains staying relatively flat. The sharp reduction in borrowing costs likely stemmed from earlier debt servicing or easing interest rates within Nigeria's banking sector.
Nigerian Breweries successfully managed through an economically challenging period in 2026. Although household purchasing power remained constrained amid ongoing macroeconomic changes, strategic emphasis on expense control and leveraging operational improvements enabled the brewer to widen margins significantly.
This translated into substantially higher returns for shareholders during the nine-month interval. The period also coincided with comparable profit improvements reported by various other major corporations operating in Nigeria.
