Nigerian Embassy in Philippines Requires Registration for Services

On May 20, 2026, the Nigerian Embassy in Manila, Philippines, announced a new policy that bars unregistered Nigerian citizens from accessing consular services. This decision was prompted by the discovery of a small number of Nigerians in the Philippines who were not registered in the NIDOPhil database.

The embassy emphasized the importance of maintaining a proper database to monitor the welfare of Nigerian citizens abroad and to provide timely assistance in emergencies. The policy states that no Nigerian citizen will be allowed to attend to consular matters without presenting evidence of registration with NIDOPhil.

Furthermore, individuals without proof of registration will not be granted entry to the embassy premises. The embassy also noted that this restriction does not apply to Nigerian students studying in the Philippines.
