Nigerian Government to Embed Journalists in Military Ops

At a security summit organized by the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) in collaboration with the Department of State Services (DSS) in Abuja, Defence Minister Christoph Gwabin Musa announced the initiative to embed journalists in military operations. This initiative aims to strengthen collaboration between the media and security agencies, promote transparency, and boost public confidence in military operations.

Musa emphasized the critical role of the media in national security management, stating that modern warfare extends beyond traditional domains to include information space. He cautioned against the premature release of sensitive operational information, warning that such disclosures could compromise missions and endanger personnel.

The Defence Minister also noted that the initiative aligns with the evolving nature of modern warfare, which encompasses both kinetic and non-kinetic approaches, including information management strategies and community engagement.
