Kogi Governor Gifts ₦20,000 to 1,490 NYSC Members

On August 26, 2026, Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi State presented ₦20,000 to each of the 1,490 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members deployed to the state, totaling ₦29.8 million. This financial assistance aims to cover transportation costs and other immediate needs as the corps members transition from the orientation camp to their primary assignments.

The announcement was confirmed by James Sani, Information Officer of the Kogi State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development. The gesture occurred during the closing ceremony of the 2026 Batch 'B', Stream II NYSC Orientation Course at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Asaya, Kabba, where Commissioner Aridaojo Anyebe represented the governor.

Ododo emphasized the importance of the corps members integrating responsibly into their communities and applying their skills, while also assuring their safety and welfare during their service year. Kogi State NYSC Coordinator Chris Tochi praised the governor for his ongoing support for corps members, highlighting the timely nature of this cash donation.
