Nigerian Govt Inaugurates REA Board Led by Fayose

On Friday, the Federal Government inaugurated the newly-constituted governing board of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) in Abuja, chaired by Ayodele Fayose, a former Governor of Ekiti State. Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe, urged board members to adopt a people-centered leadership approach, ensuring that policies improve the lives of ordinary Nigerians.

The board's formation aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s objectives of enhancing governance, transparency, and accountability in public institutions. Tegbe highlighted the agency's crucial role in economic inclusion through off-grid initiatives like mini-grids and solar home systems.

He clarified the operational boundaries, stating that while the non-executive board provides strategic oversight, management retains operational autonomy. Fayose praised Tegbe's appointment, recognizing it as a significant move towards reforming Nigeria's power sector.

He assured the minister of the board's commitment to fulfilling REA’s mandate. The inauguration event was attended by key officials, including the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Power and the REA managing director.
