Fayose Inaugurated as REA Governing Board Chairman

Ayodele Fayose was inaugurated as the Chairman of the Governing Board of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) on Friday in Abuja, following his appointment by President Bola Tinubu. The inauguration was conducted by the Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe, who also swore in other board members, including Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar, Mr. Ilyasu Makinta, and three non-executive directors.

Mr. Abba Aliyu was appointed as the Managing Director of the agency. Fayose expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for the appointment and committed to providing the necessary political support to strengthen the agency and expand electricity access across Nigeria.

He emphasized that the agency's role extends beyond electricity provision to improving the quality of life in rural areas. Fayose stated that the board is actively engaging stakeholders to secure funding for rural electrification projects.

Minister Tegbe highlighted the government's shift towards assessing the impact of electricity supply on communities rather than just measuring generation capacity.
