Nigerian Government Launches Eight Major Road Projects

On a significant day for Nigeria's infrastructure development, the federal government signed memoranda of understanding and contracts for eight major road projects across the country. The signing ceremony took place at the Ministry of Works headquarters in Abuja and was attended by government officials, contractors, and stakeholders.

Minister of Works David Umahi described these projects as part of President Bola Tinubu's legacy aimed at modernizing Nigeria's road infrastructure and strengthening the economy. The federal government has already procured the first 123 kilometers of a single carriageway from Calabar to Ebonyi and plans to construct a super highway stretching from Calabar to the Benue border.

Umahi revealed that the government would soon procure a second carriageway of 300 kilometers from Ndibe Beach to Oweto in Nasarawa State. He emphasized the projects' potential to significantly reduce travel time between the southeast and Abuja, enhancing economic activity in the region.

The projects are expected to be completed by 2027, with a commitment to quality and durability in construction.
