Nigerian Military Air Strike Kills 18 Terrorists in Borno

On September 11, 2026, the Air Component of the Joint Task Force North East, operating under Operation HADIN KAI, executed a precision air strike on a terrorist stronghold located in Tumbunma Baba, Borno State. This operation resulted in the death of more than 18 terrorists and the destruction of their support infrastructure.

Captain Mohammed Goni, the Acting Media Information Officer of the Headquarters Joint Task Force North East Operation, stated that the mission was based on weeks of intelligence gathering, which indicated that senior terrorist figures were convening at various meeting points and logistics hubs on the islands. Surveillance and confirmatory Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) began on September 9, 2026, confirming the site as a base for terrorist coordination and supply.

The air strike was complemented by ground troops from Sector 1 OPHK, who sealed off escape routes. A post-strike review indicated an operational success rate of approximately 85 percent.

Goni emphasized the importance of intelligence-led operations in countering terrorism in the region.
