Nigerian Pilgrim Hajiya Rukayya Haliru Dies in Makkah

Hajiya Rukayya Haliru, a 70-year-old pilgrim from Keffi Local Government, passed away in Makkah, as confirmed by the Nasarawa State Muslim Pilgrim Welfare Board on Wednesday. Mallam Idri Ahmad Almakura, the Executive Secretary of the board, disclosed that she had complained of illness despite medical efforts.

She ultimately passed away in the morning. The Executive Secretary, along with officials and family members, were present at the hospital overseeing preparations for her movement to the Grand Mosque in Makkah for the Janazah funeral prayer, a solemn Islamic rite.

The board advised pilgrims to prioritize their health and reported that symptoms were noted early by the medical team attached to the board. Mallam Idri Ahmad Almakura extended condolences from the board and the Nasarawa State government to Hajiya Rukayya Haliru's family.

Abdulwab Aboki, an interviewee, expressed the family's appreciation for the board's support throughout this difficult process.
