President Tinubu Approves Major Southeast Highway Projects

On Thursday, the Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu approved the design of two significant highway projects in the Southeast region. The projects include the 108-kilometer Otuocha-Anam-Abaji road, which is expected to link Anambra State with Kogi State in North Central Nigeria, and the 150-kilometer Oba-Nnewi-Uga-Ihub junction road, which will connect Anambra, Imo State, and Enugu, extending towards the Port Harcourt expressway and part of Abia State.

This approval follows discussions between the federal government and the Anambra State government regarding priority infrastructure projects for the region. The discussions began during a meeting between Governor Chukwuma Soludo and President Tinubu on July 1, 2026.

Subsequently, the Federal Ministry of Works received a formal proposal from the Anambra State government on July 3, outlining the priority road corridors.
