Nigerian Resident Doctors Suspend Strike After Government Intervention

The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) in Nigeria has decided to suspend their planned indefinite strike after a virtual emergency meeting of the National Executive Council (NEC) led by Vice President Kashim Shettima on behalf of President Bola Tinubu. The suspension aims to allow time for a thorough assessment of progress made on the association's demands.

NARD highlighted issues such as outstanding salary arrears and crises in federal teaching hospitals like FTH Lokoja. A reconciliation committee has been formed to address these challenges and ensure harmony within the healthcare sector.
