Nigerian Students to Picket South African Businesses

Nigerian students, represented by Comrad Adeyemo and Josiah Kayod (also known as Billioncod), have announced plans to picket South African businesses operating in Nigeria in response to xenophobic violence against Nigerians in South Africa. This decision follows the recent killing of two Nigerians, which highlights a recurring pattern of hostility and violence against Nigerian nationals.

The students have called for immediate action to end such violence and have mobilized to organize peaceful protests against major South African corporations like MTN Group and Multichoice Group. They emphasize that these businesses thrive in an environment where Nigerians are subjected to fear and violence, which is unacceptable.

The students are urging the South African government and relevant authorities to demonstrate a genuine commitment to protecting foreign nationals, particularly Nigerians, and to ensure justice is served in cases of violence. They stress that the safety and dignity of Nigerians are non-negotiable and that dialogue with South African business representatives will continue.
