Oluwo Suggests Third Term for Tinubu Amid Economic Gains

Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulroshe Akanbi, has indicated that Nigerians might pursue a constitutional amendment to permit President Bola Tinubu to remain in office beyond the current two-term limit. This statement was made during a congratulatory message from his spokesperson, Ibrahim Alli, on Tinubu's 74th birthday.

Oluwo commended Tinubu for his leadership qualities and his firm stance against illegal activities that hinder economic growth. He highlighted notable achievements of Tinubu's administration, including an increase in Nigeria's foreign reserves from $49.5 billion to $50.45 billion between late February and March 2026, and structural reforms that have improved the economy.

The monarch also praised Tinubu for granting local government autonomy and increasing state allocations, which are expected to enhance infrastructure projects such as the Lagos-Calabar coastal road and the Sokoto-Badagry road. Oluwo emphasized the need for capable leadership to implement necessary economic reforms and stabilize the nation.
