Nigerians Injured in UAE Amid Alleged Iranian Attack

On March 14, the UAE Ministry of Defence announced that its air defense systems engaged nine ballistic missiles and 33 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) launched from Iran, amid escalating military actions involving the United States, Israel, and Iran. This situation has resulted in injuries to Nigerians and other nationals in the UAE.

The Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, represented by spokesperson Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, stated that the government is closely monitoring the volatile situation in the Middle East, particularly the military actions involving Israel, the United States, and Iran. The Nigerian government has issued an advisory for its citizens living or visiting Gulf countries due to the ongoing conflict.

The escalation follows Israeli attacks on Iranian targets, with Iranian officials warning of retaliatory actions against U.S. military bases in neighboring countries. Additionally, the Nigerian government reaffirmed its commitment to a market-based petrol pricing system despite rising geopolitical tensions affecting global oil markets.
