JAMB Mock UTME Disrupted by Technical Failures

On March 28, 2026, the mock Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) faced severe disruptions due to technical glitches and network failures. Reports indicated that 227,896 candidates nationwide experienced delays, with some waiting for hours without being able to commence their exams.

In Nasarawa State, for instance, candidates scheduled for an 8:00 AM start were still waiting at 11:28 AM. Alex Onyia, CEO of Educar, highlighted that many students could not take the compulsory mock exam due to these technical issues.

Parents expressed their frustrations on social media, criticizing the lack of preparation and communication from JAMB. The situation was described as inhumane, with candidates arriving early and facing prolonged wait times without food.

The mock exam was intended to test the new software system ahead of the main UTME scheduled for April 16-25, 2026.
