JR Farms Signs $60M Deal to Boost Liberia Coffee Sector

On June 8, 2026, Nigeria’s JR Farms Group and Liberia’s Ministry of Agriculture signed a $60 million implementation agreement in Monrovia to revitalize Liberia's coffee industry over the next 20 years. The project will establish commercial-scale coffee nursery hubs across five counties, register over 200,000 farmers, and train extension workers.

It includes constructing coffee washing stations and market infrastructure to enhance Liberia's position in the global coffee market. Rotimi Opeyemi Olawale, founder and group chief executive of JR Farms Group, expressed optimism about the project's potential to create nearly half a million jobs and contribute to Liberia's GDP.

Neutah Alexander, the Minister of Agriculture, has been actively supporting the initiative, which aligns with the government's focus on coffee as a priority crop. The partnership will commence with nursery hubs in Bomi and Great Cape Mount Counties, capable of producing 1 million coffee seedlings per cycle.
