Nigeria's Public Service Must Earn Citizens' Trust

On Tuesday, Dasuki Arabi, the Director of the Bureau of Public Service Reform (BPSR), addressed the need for Nigeria's public service to earn and sustain citizens' trust through innovation, accountability, and inclusivity. Speaking at a public service lecture series in Abuja, commemorating the United Nations Public Service Day, Arabi highlighted the theme of transforming public institutions to advance innovation and participation.

He stressed that ongoing reforms must focus on human dignity and fair opportunities to build institutions that deserve citizens' trust. Arabi noted that leveraging digital technology and data analytics is crucial for improving service delivery and ensuring efficiency.

He commended states like Gombe, Kaduna, Lagos, and Rivers for establishing public service reform bureaux and urged others to follow suit. The event also featured representatives from various civil service sectors, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and sharing best practices to enhance public service effectiveness at both federal and subnational levels.
