Stakeholders Call for Reforms to Strengthen Nigeria's Democracy

During the Herbert Samuel Macaulay memorial lecture, stakeholders urged for bold reforms to enhance Nigeria's democracy, focusing on justice, transparency, and good governance. Lateefah Ibrahim Lago emphasized the need for collective commitment from leaders and citizens to strengthen public confidence in institutions and the rule of law.

Bode George, an elder statesman, described Herbert Macaulay as a visionary leader whose dedication to justice and political representation remains relevant in Nigeria's democratic journey. Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu praised Macaulay's legacy and encouraged Nigerians, especially the youth, to draw inspiration from his life of service.

Professor Folasad Ogunshola from the University of Lagos called for emulation of Macaulay's courage and commitment to national service. The event also highlighted the establishment of a national museum to honor Macaulay and lamented the demolition of his family house, underscoring the importance of preserving Nigeria's historical heritage.
