Nigerien Arrested for N7 Million Ram Theft in Bauchi

On May 19, 2026, the Bauchi State Police Command arrested Sayyadi Abubakar, a 58-year-old man from Tahoua in the Maradi region of Niger Republic, for his involvement in the theft of 18 rams valued at N7 million. The arrest occurred during an intelligence-led operation in the Bauchi metropolitan area.

Police spokesperson SP Nafiu Habib disclosed that the operation involved intercepting two vehicles, a white Hummer with registration number Delta WW 882 ZR and a dark ash Toyota Camry with registration number Bauchi NNG 293 AA, along Gubi Road. The vehicles were found loaded with the stolen rams, located opposite Kunya Filling Station along Murtala Mohammed Road in Bauchi.

Abubakar confessed during interrogation about his conspiracy with Alhaji Ibrahim and four accomplices, who are currently at large. The syndicate is reportedly involved in changing vehicle number plates to evade detection.

Ongoing efforts are being made to apprehend the fleeing suspects, and Abubakar will be charged in court upon completion of the investigation.
