NIMC Arrests Illegal NIN Operators, Seizes Equipment

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) conducted an enforcement operation in Gwagwalada, Abuja, resulting in the arrest of several operators of illegal National Identification Number (NIN) enrolment centres. The NIMC's Inspectorate Compliance and Enforcement Unit (ICEU) seized illegal enrolment equipment during this operation.
Kayode Adegoke, head of corporate communications, stated that the initiative aims to eliminate unauthorized enrolment activities and unethical practices that could compromise the integrity and security of Nigeria’s National Identity Management System. The NIMC warned Nigerians against patronizing unapproved enrolment operators, as this could lead to issues with their NIN records.
It emphasized that NIN enrolment should only occur at NIMC-approved centres and that data modifications must be conducted through authorized platforms. Engr. Abisoye Coker-Odusote, Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of NIMC, reiterated the commission's commitment to providing seamless NIN enrolment services and urged NIN holders to use approved channels for enrolment and related services.
