Nine Students Injured in Ebonyi College Night Attack

On June 9, 2026, at approximately 1:20 AM, nine students were injured during an attack by suspected hoodlums at the Ebonyi College of Health Sciences and Technology in Ngbo, Ohaukwu Local Government Area, Ebonyi State. The assailants invaded the female hostel, demanding valuables such as phones, cash, and ATM cards.

Princess Chetachi Usulor, the college provost, reported that the security breach was partly due to the large expanse of unfenced land surrounding the institution. Following the attack, security agencies, including the police and homeland security personnel, were alerted and responded to the distress call.

The attackers fled before security personnel arrived. The injured students received medical attention, and their injuries were assessed through examinations, including X-rays.

The provost dismissed reports of missing students and noted that the attack was likely aimed at specific individuals. Enhanced security measures are being discussed to prevent future incidents.
