Nigeria Appoints 69 Ambassadors Under President Tinubu

The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced the appointment of 69 ambassadorial nominees by President Bola Tinubu, with 63 agreements confirmed by various host countries. The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sola Enikanolaiye, disclosed this information in a statement on Tuesday.

He presented letters of credence for the ambassadors to be assigned to Trinidad and Tobago, Kenya, Equatorial Guinea, and Egypt on Monday, June 22, 2026. This presentation followed the confirmation of receipt of agreements from these countries.

The Ministry expressed optimism that the remaining countries would also accept the ambassadorial nominees, which would enhance Nigeria's diplomatic relations. The total number of ambassadors appointed includes those assigned to India and South Africa, with some already departing for their respective countries to commence their diplomatic duties.
