NIOB Advocates for Enhanced Housing Policies in Nigeria

The Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB) has called for increased involvement of builders and professionals in shaping government housing policies to address Nigeria's housing deficit and enhance building quality and safety. NIOB President Abimbola Daniel Kolade made this statement in anticipation of the institute's 56th Builders’ Conference and Annual General Meeting, scheduled to take place in Abuja.

He highlighted the necessity for better national housing policies, affordable high-quality homes, strict enforcement of building standards, sustainable infrastructure, and enhanced training and certification for workers. Kolade stressed the importance of collaboration among government, professionals, private sector players, and other stakeholders to provide safer and more affordable housing for Nigerians.

Dr. Adeshina Aladeloba, the 3rd Vice President of NIOB, confirmed that preparations for the conference are complete, which will convene builders, policymakers, government officials, and corporate organizations to discuss challenges in the construction industry. Usenobong Emmanuel Atangaedi, NIOB's National Publicity Secretary, emphasized the need for a collective effort from all built-environment professionals.
