Adamawa State Launches Immunization for 1.4M Children

The Adamawa State government has initiated an immunization exercise aimed at protecting children under five years old from polio and other diseases. The campaign, which targets 1.4 million children across 21 local government areas and 226 electoral wards, was launched at the Atiku Abubakar Primary Health Care Clinic.

Sarah Nathan, representing the Yola South Local Government Council, emphasized the importance of immunization for child growth and survival, urging parents and guardians to take advantage of this life-saving opportunity. She commended UNICEF for their ongoing collaboration and commitment to improving the health of women and children in Adamawa State.

UNICEF representative Oluseyi Olosund highlighted the need for traditional rulers and community leaders to mobilize parents and guardians to ensure compliance with the immunization program. The exercise is part of a broader effort to address challenges related to non-compliance in the community.
