NIS Enrolls Over 8,500 Nigerians in Passport Services
The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has successfully enrolled 8,552 Nigerians in passport intervention exercises conducted in the United States, Canada, Qatar, and the United Kingdom. This initiative aims to address passport service challenges faced by Nigerians living abroad and enhance access to enrolment and renewal services.
The exercises were carried out under the directive of the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in collaboration with Nigerian diplomatic missions and community representatives in the respective countries. In the United States, 535 Nigerians were enrolled between September 7 and 15, 2026, in Chicago, Michigan, and Milwaukee.
Canada saw 2,257 enrollments from September 6 to 19 across various cities. Qatar recorded 751 enrollments from August 9 to 24, while the United Kingdom had the highest number, with 5,099 Nigerians registered in London and Manchester, with ongoing services.
The NIS also introduced a Contactless Passport Application System for those unable to secure appointment slots.
