NLC Demands Investigation into Lower Niger River Basin Authority

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has demanded an independent investigation into the Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority (LNRBDA) due to allegations of victimization and mismanagement by its management, specifically targeting union leaders. Engr.

Olushola Georg Olumoroti, the managing director, is accused of violating due process and mismanaging the agency. The NLC, alongside the National Union of Agricultural and Allied Employees (NUAEE), claims that the management distorted facts surrounding a recent worker protest and failed to present the true circumstances leading to the demonstration.

The union alleges that the current management has continued a campaign of harassment against union leaders, particularly Comrade Mudi Olayinka Raji, who faced disciplinary actions without proper procedures. The NLC also raised concerns about financial mismanagement within the agency and called for the correction of worker grade levels, the release of withheld promotion letters, and an investigation into the management's practices.

The NLC insists that workers will not be silenced and will continue to defend their rights.
