NLC Threatens Protests and Election Boycott Over Senate's U-Turn on E-Transmission

The Senate's rejection of the provision mandating real-time transmission of results from polling units to the INEC portal has drawn criticism from civil society groups and opposition parties.

The NLC accuses the Senate of introducing ambiguity and vague legal language that could undermine public confidence in the electoral process. NLC demands clarity on the final content of the amendment and the rationale behind rejecting real-time electronic transmission.

Despite Senate President Godswill Akpabio defending the Senate's position, there are speculations of revisiting the contentious clause. Legal challenges are anticipated, with prominent lawyer Femi Falana mentioned in this context.
