NMDC's Asuquo Calls for Integrity in Anti-Corruption Efforts

Engr Prof Linus Asuquo, the Director General/Chief Executive of the National Metallurgical Development Centre (NMDC), advocated for a collective effort to uphold integrity in the fight against corruption during the inauguration of the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) at the NMDC Multi-Media Centre. Represented by Dada Emily Bola, the Director and Head of Department, Analytical Services, Asuquo stated that achieving the agency's mandate requires blocking loopholes that enable corrupt practices.
He noted that NMDC, which focuses on adding value to minerals and metals in Nigeria, aims to become a global center of excellence by avoiding corruption. The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) recently rated NMDC 64% for compliance with ethical standards, and Asuquo expressed confidence in improving this score.
Mary Otabo, the representative of the Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner, provided background on the ICPC Act of 2000 and outlined the functions of ACTU, which include receiving corruption complaints and conducting investigations.
