Maikaba Aims to Return Bayelsa United to NPFL in One Season

Abdul Maikaba, the technical adviser for Bayelsa United, has stated that the club's clear mandate is to return to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) by the end of the 2026/27 Nigeria National League (NNL) season. Following a preseason victory over De Go-Pro FC of Sapele, Maikaba expressed satisfaction with the team's performance but noted the ongoing assessment and recruitment of players.

He mentioned that the club currently has over sixty players in camp and aims to reduce this number to a maximum of 35. Maikaba, who signed a one-year contract specifically to achieve this goal, emphasized that Bayelsa United is prepared to face any opponent in the NNL.

The club is placed in Conference B, which includes teams such as Beyond Limit FA, Solution FC, Akwa United, and others. The NNL season is set to kick off on Saturday, October 31, with the opening match featuring Heartland of Owerri against Crown FC.
