NNPC to Launch 70 Self-Service Filling Stations Nationwide

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) announced plans to deploy between 50 and 70 smart, self-service filling stations across Nigeria within the next six months. This initiative aims to transform conventional retail outlets into modern energy and mobility hubs, providing services such as petrol, electric vehicle charging, liquefied petroleum gas, and compressed natural gas.

Mumuni Dagazau, Executive Vice President of Downstream at NNPC, made this announcement on Thursday in Abuja during the commissioning of a technology-driven service station with an electric vehicle charging facility located along Bill Clinton Drive, Airport Road. Dagazau emphasized that this new model would allow customers to dispense petrol themselves through a digital payment system, although attendants would still be present to assist.

He dismissed concerns about job losses, stating that the expanded services would create more jobs, as the energy hubs would require additional staff for support and integration.
