PENGASSAN Warns of Potential Strike Resumption Against Dangote Refinery

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has stated that no agreement has been reached with Dangote Refinery, indicating a possible resumption of the strike. The union accuses the refinery of illegally terminating 800 Nigerian workers and replacing them with 2,000 foreign employees, mainly Indians.

PENGASSAN President Festu Osifo emphasized the need for the refinery to reinstate the sacked workers promptly. The union's grievances remain unresolved, leading to concerns about the temporary suspension of the strike.

The Ministry of Labour's intervention and conciliation talks have not yielded a satisfactory resolution, raising tensions between the parties involved.
