INEC Chairman Urges Timely Election Preparations in Osun

On Friday, during a training visit to Supervisory Presiding Officers (SPOs) at Ataoja School of Science in Osogbo, Prof. Joash Amupitan, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), instructed the SPOs to ensure the prompt deployment of election materials for the August 15 Osun State governorship election.

He emphasized that there should be no delays or diversions of materials and urged the officers to resist any political pressure. Prof.

Amupitan stated that the credibility of the election relies heavily on their professionalism and integrity, instructing that voting must commence by 8:30 a.m. with materials arriving at polling units by 7:30 a.m. He reminded the SPOs that they represent INEC at the polling units and their actions would reflect on the Commission.

He also called for a peaceful election and suggested rewarding outstanding SPOs. The event was attended by several INEC National Commissioners and the Osun Resident Electoral Commissioner, Barr.
