BPP Official Testifies No Evidence of Sirika Approving Contracts Linked to Brother in Court

The trial of former Aviation Minister Hadi Sirika took a dramatic turn as a Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) official testified in an Abuja high court that there is no record showing Sirika approved or signed contracts awarded to firms linked to his brother, Ahmad Sirika. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) alleges that Sirika abused his office by influencing contract awards worth N19.4 billion, including projects like a terminal building and fire truck maintenance center.

The BPP official, Isaiah Yesufu, clarified that Sirika did not have the authority to approve contracts, emphasizing the due process required. The defense maintains Sirika's innocence.

The cross-examination is adjourned until December 10.
