NNPP Denies Pact to Support Obi or Kwankwaso for 2027

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has dismissed rumors of a secret arrangement to collapse its structure in support of Peter Obi, the presidential aspirant of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), or Rabiu Kwankwaso, the former presidential candidate. Bala Yusuf, the national chairman of NNPP, made this clarification during an interview on the sidelines of the party's 11th national executive committee meeting in Abuja.

He emphasized that despite speculation regarding an alignment with the NDC following Kwankwaso's defection, the NNPP has not entered any agreement with Kwankwaso's political party. Yusuf stated that the NNPP will not field a presidential candidate for the 2027 elections but will explore alliances with other political parties to find a credible candidate.

He noted that the party has lost its electoral governor, Abba Yusuf, in Kano State and is focused on producing an authentic presidential candidate based on merit.
