No Release of Abducted Oyo Pupils and Teachers Confirmed

Abayomi Fagbenro, a special adviser to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, stated that there has been no release of the pupils and teachers abducted during an attack on three schools in Oriire Local Government Area. This clarification comes in response to a viral social media post claiming that the victims had been released, which Fagbenro described as untrue.

He noted that no mainstream media organizations have reported such developments. Olayinka Ayanlad, the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, also confirmed that he was unaware of any release of the victims.

Following the attack, which resulted in the death of at least two individuals and the abduction of approximately 30 students and teachers, efforts to secure the release of the hostages have intensified. Inspector General of Police Tunji Disu announced the deployment of a special force to collaborate with local security teams to ensure the safe return of the abducted individuals.
