Makinde Promises Safe Return of Abducted Oyo Pupils

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has vowed to ensure the safe return of abducted pupils and teachers from Oriire Local Government Area, emphasizing that their rescue remains a top priority for his administration. In a statement issued on Friday, he assured residents that the state government would provide all necessary support for the rescue mission, which is being coordinated with security agencies.

To strengthen security operations, Makinde approved a temporary 16-hour curfew in 10 local government areas bordering the Old Oyo National Park. He stressed the importance of taking every necessary precaution to protect pupils and teachers while ensuring that essential public services continue to function.

Additionally, the governor mentioned that preparations are underway for the safe resumption of schools despite existing security challenges. He also disclosed that the delivery of the state’s surveillance aircraft is in its final phase, with expectations for its operational readiness to enhance aerial surveillance and emergency response capabilities.
