NOC Supports Nigeria Netball Revival for 2030 Games

The Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) has expressed its support for the revival of netball in Nigeria, setting its sights on a successful performance at the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad, India. This initiative follows the inauguration of the Nigeria Netball Federation on May 5, 2026.

NOC President Engr Habu Ahm Gumel praised the leadership of the National Sports Commission (NSC), led by Mallam Shehu Dikko and Hon Bukola Olopade, for their visionary efforts to restore the sport in Nigeria. Dr.

Toyin Aluko, the president of the Nigeria Netball Federation and a former athlete, is expected to leverage her administrative experience to revitalize netball. The NOC has pledged full technical support to the federation, focusing on rebuilding coaching and officiating capacities.

The federation aims to inspire a new generation of players and ensure a podium finish at the Commonwealth Games, emphasizing the importance of corporate partnerships to fund the sport's infrastructure across schools and local communities.
