Nollywood Actress Chidera Adiele Seeks Help for Brother

Chidera Adiele, a Nollywood actress and art curator, made an emotional appeal for assistance regarding her younger brother's ongoing struggle with drug addiction and mental illness, which started in 2019 after he gained admission to the University of Lagos. His condition deteriorated during his first academic session in 2020.

Adiele reported that her brother has been admitted to at least seven psychiatric facilities, including the Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital in Yaba and the 68 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital, where he spent three months before being discharged. She identified other facilities, such as Concept One and hospitals in Gbagada and Benin City.

As the first child and primary caregiver, Adiele relocated five years ago to protect her daughter from the instability caused by her brother's condition. However, the family has since returned to live with her due to a landlord's quit notice.

Adiele expressed the emotional toll of the situation and the extensive financial burden of her brother's treatment, appealing for public support.
