Nollywood Star Chinedu Ikedieze Promotes Mental Health

Chinedu Ikedieze, a veteran Nollywood actor, has joined the campaign for mental health awareness as a newly appointed mental health ambassador for the Echo Africa Initiative, a U.S.-based non-profit organization. This initiative aims to tackle the stigma surrounding mental illness and encourage individuals to seek professional help.

Ikedieze will spearhead advocacy efforts to change cultural perceptions that often force individuals to suffer in silence regarding mental health challenges. His involvement was announced during the flagship diaspora program "Laugh, Learn, Heal" held at Bronx Community College, New York, which featured discussions led by mental health experts, including Dr.

Sosunmolu Shoyinka and Dr. Evaristo Akerel.

The campaign will shift its focus to Nigeria in October, coinciding with a conference on mental health and gender-based violence in Abuja. Ikedieze will also lead public engagement initiatives in the U.S. and other major cities to address psychological challenges faced by African immigrants and communities.
