NDC Faces Crisis Over Kano State Candidate Nominations

The Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) is reportedly on the brink of a crisis as it prepares for the next general elections, particularly concerning its Kano State chapter. Former presidential candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso is at the center of the turmoil, with sources indicating that he is estranged from party leadership.

The NDC's National Working Committee (NWC), led by Senator Seriake Dickson, is struggling to manage the situation as Kwankwaso demands control over candidate nominations. He has requested two state assembly slots, which the NWC has rebuffed, leading to frustrations.

There are concerns that Kwankwaso may resign from the party, with discussions ongoing about the potential for mass resignations from the Kano chapter. Additionally, Kwankwaso's influence is causing discontent among other party members, including those aligned with the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The NDC aims to resolve these issues before submitting its final candidate list to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the 2027 elections.
