Nonye Soludo Receives Health Activism Award in Lagos

Nonye Soludo, the wife of Anambra State Governor, was awarded the Health Activism Award at the 2026 BudgIT Active Citizens Awards held in Lagos. This recognition was for her significant contributions to preventive healthcare, community wellness, and public health advocacy through her leadership of the Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Initiative.

Dr. Soludo won the award after a selection process that evaluated nominees on criteria such as innovation, impact, sustainability, inclusion, leadership, and measurable community outcomes, surpassing competitors like health advocate Ramatu Ada Ochekliye and public health professional Sidney Sampson. Her initiatives include statewide fitness campaigns, maternal and child health advocacy, nutrition education, environmental sanitation, the Healthy Living Pad Bank for schoolgirls, and the Nonye’s Healthy Living Pap Initiative aimed at addressing childhood malnutrition.

Upon receiving the award, Dr. Soludo expressed her commitment to enhancing community health and dedicated the honor to her initiative's members and healthcare workers. BudgIT Country Director Vahyala Kwaga praised her humanitarian efforts as exemplary public service.
