Dr Nonye Soludo Advocates for Women's Empowerment

Dr Nonye Soludo, the wife of the Anambra State governor, has called for stronger empowerment and equality for women across Nigeria. In a press statement released on Wednesday, commemorating Women’s Equality Day on August 26, she stated that when women are empowered, families become stronger, communities healthier, and societies progress.

Dr Soludo, who is also the founder of the Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Initiative, emphasized that equality is not about giving women an advantage but ensuring that every woman and girl has the opportunity to learn, lead, work, dream, and thrive without limitations imposed by gender, culture, religion, or social impediments. She celebrated the strength, brilliance, and resilience of women, urging continued efforts to create a world where every girl can envision a future filled with possibilities and every woman can claim her rightful place in society.

Women’s Equality Day commemorates the 1920 adoption of the Nineteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, which prohibits voting discrimination based on sex.
