North believed President Jonathan was behind Boko Haram – Umar Sani

Umar Sani, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, revealed that during former President Goodluck Jonathan's time in office, many in the North believed he was behind the Boko Haram insurgency. Sani claimed that people in the North thought Jonathan was using General Ihejirika, the former Chief of Army Staff, to create chaos in the region.

Speaking on the Arise Television Morning Show, Sani stated that initially, Jonathan was unpopular in the North due to this perception. However, as President Muhammadu Buhari took office and struggled to defeat Boko Haram, people began to see faults in Jonathan's administration.

Sani highlighted an incident where Boko Haram militants burnt people alive on a bus, which further fueled the belief that the government was incapacitated. This revelation sheds light on the complex dynamics of the insurgency and political landscape in Nigeria.
