North-East Governors Launch Air Shuttle Initiative

The governors of the six North-East states—Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba, and Yobe—have resolved to create a regional air shuttle to facilitate faster movement of people and goods. This decision was made during the 13th meeting of the North-East Governors’ Forum held in Maiduguri, Borno State.
The forum, chaired by Borno State Governor Prof Babagana Zulum, aims to reduce transportation costs and enhance economic activities in the region. Additionally, the governors will collaborate with Green Ville Energy to expand Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) stations across the subregion.
The communiqué also acknowledged the Federal Government's support for the provision of electric tricycles, buses, and taxis, expected to launch in October. The governors expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his focus on infrastructure projects, including the Port Harcourt–Jos–Bauchi–Gombe–Maiduguri rail corridor and the Mambila Hydropower Project, while urging the Federal Government to resume stalled oil exploration in Borno State.
