NWDC Launches Projects for 30,000 Farmers and Youths

The North-West Development Commission (NWDC), led by Managing Director Professor Shehu Abdullahi Ma Aji, has unveiled projects aimed at benefiting 30,000 farmers and 10,000 youths across seven North-West states. The initiatives, which will be implemented in the second half of 2026, include upgrading primary healthcare centers, rehabilitating secondary schools, providing clean water, and distributing free fertilizers to boost food production.

The NWDC's youth vocational and digital skills development program will target 10,000 beneficiaries in Kano, Kaduna, and Sokoto. The commission has a budget of N145.61 billion for 2026, but has faced challenges with slow fund disbursement, receiving only N3 billion monthly.

Professor Ma Aji emphasized the need for enhanced funding sources and collaboration with international partners for humanitarian aid and economic empowerment. The NWDC has established a temporary headquarters in Kano and is working on a permanent headquarters in Kaduna.
