North-West Development Commission Enhances Healthcare Affordability

The North-West Development Commission is partnering with Dala Orthopaedic Hospital in Kano to explore strategies for making quality healthcare more affordable. This initiative was announced by the Managing Director, Professor Shehu Abdullahi Ma’aji, during a meeting with the Chief Medical Director, Dr.

Isa Nurudeen. The Commission plans to conduct a needs assessment focusing on energy requirements to power the hospital's advanced equipment.

Professor Abdullahi expressed that the partnership would help minimize operational costs, ultimately leading to reduced service charges for patients. He also indicated the Commission's intention to extend similar support to other hospitals in the North-West region, including Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, and Danfodio University Teaching Hospital.

Dr. Nurudeen highlighted the urgent need for a sustainable energy source for the hospital's new MRI machine, which requires continuous electricity to function optimally.

The collaboration aims to improve healthcare delivery and reduce medical tourism by enhancing local facilities.
