Northern Democrats Caution Governors Against Bandit Negotiations

The Northern Democrats League (LND) has cautioned northern governors against negotiating with bandits, emphasizing the need for effective security measures in the region. LND stated that dialogue with bandits could undermine efforts to end insecurity and called for tangible disarmament processes to protect citizens and restore order.

The league highlighted the importance of enforcing ceasefires, verifying disarmament, and ensuring civilian protection in any peace process. The resolution, issued after a meeting in Abuja, urged governors to take responsibility for securing their states and avoid legitimizing criminal activities through negotiations.

LND called for stakeholders to prioritize security and accountability in addressing the security challenges posed by banditry in northern Nigeria.
