Northern Groups Reject Exclusion from N3.9tn Road Projects

The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has condemned the alleged exclusion of the North-West geopolitical zone from the recently approved N3.9 trillion federal road projects. In a statement signed by the national coordinator, Comrade Jamilu Aliyu Charanchi, the coalition described the oversight as a betrayal of the region's political support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the 2023 general elections.

The federal executive council approved 27 federal road projects worth N3.9 trillion across 15 states, deliberately excluding seven states in the North-West: Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Kebbi, Sokoto, and Zamfara. The CNG expressed profound disappointment, stating that this exclusion reflects a disturbing pattern of neglect against the region, which is home to significant economic corridors.

They demand an immediate review of the project to include the North-West, emphasizing its importance as the largest vote bloc and agricultural hub in Nigeria.
