Northern Groups Decry Exclusion from N3.9tn Road Projects

The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) condemned the Federal Government's alleged exclusion of the North-West from the recently approved N3.9 trillion federal road projects. In a statement signed by the national coordinator, Comrad Jamilu Aliyu Charanchi, the coalition described the exclusion of seven North-West states—Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Kebbi, Sokoto, and Zamfara—as a betrayal of the region's political support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the 2023 general elections.

The CNG expressed profound disappointment and outrage over the approval of 27 federal road projects across 15 states, highlighting a disturbing pattern of neglect against the North-West. They pointed out that the region, which is home to significant economic corridors and agricultural hubs, received no attention in this infrastructure initiative.

The coalition called for an immediate review of the road project approvals to include the North-West states, emphasizing the need for equitable distribution of national infrastructure projects.
